July 2011 An update to valued customers both old and new, the devastating fire of 2009 is only a memory. The new toilet block on the camping field is completed! The reception is located where Little Avalon traded (please note they are no longer trading)and the bar, cafe and games area is near completion and anticipated to be fully operational on 16 July.
We no longer have any yellow pitches on the site, non bookable ( first come first pitches )
It is considerably busier, but still
not overcrowded. There has always been enough room for all who come.
The beach with its fine golden sand is considered by many to be
one of the best in the British Isles - fine for sand castles, beach
games or just lazing in the sun - and there are numerous rock pools
for the younger ones to enjoy and paddle, swim and explore. The
surf itself is very good for belly boards while the inexperienced
or the enthusiastic may try to ride the larger waves with their
malibu boards further out.
The coastline from Pentire Headland to
Port Quin is under the protection of the National Trust and cannot
be fully described, as its unique charm has to be seen to be appreciated.
Following the footpath around these cliffs, there are some spectacular
views - with an abundance of wild flowers and many species of birds,
also the occasional seal may be seen. It is around this time that
there are some ideal spots for the angler in your family to fish
for bass, pollack, mackerel, gar-fish, wrasse and conger.
Should you have to take your holiday in
the school summer break or have not been to Polzeath, you may like
to come and see for yourself - stay for a week-end in April or May
in one of our caravans at a special introductory rate (offer excludes
Easter and Bank Holidays).
